Kevin Durant Laughed at by ESPN Reporter For Thanking God in Post-Game Interview After Beating the Heat, Watch Here (VIDEO)
A post-game interview on ESPN after the win by the Oklahoma City Thunder over the Miami Heat has been receiving some backlash this week. Thunder star, Kevin Durant has been on a scoring tear scoring 30 or more points in 12 straight games after the victory over the Heat. He scored 33 points in the game and some viewed that he was being laughed at by the ESPN reporter when he thanked God for his success (watch video above).
The ESPN NBA analyst doing the interview was Doris Burke and she asked Durant what he credits as the reason for his recent success on the basketball court. Durant simply replied, "Thank God, that's all I can say, Jesus Christ" to which Burke responded by laughing and replying, "Okay, thank you. You had nothing to do with it?" Durant responded, "No, nothing, it's all Him," before smiling and walking away.
It is hard to tell if Burke was truly laughing at Durant's answer or just surprised at his short and humble answer. Either way, social media was a buzz about the clip weighing in on both sides.
Regardless of her intentions, Burke's awkward response has lit up both Twitter and Facebook, with some taking offense to the way the ESPN analyst handled Durant's comment, and others arguing her response was purely innocent. You can read the twitter feed HERE.
"I don't think she laughed in his face. It was the kind of laugh to fill space. She wasn't expecting a quick answer," wrote Andrew Gilman, tweeted.
Another sports fan wrote: "Excuse me Doris Burke but what the heck was your response 'that's it?' supposed to mean? Yes, Jesus Christ IS IT."
The Thunder overcame an 18-point hole to beat the Heat giving Oklahoma their ninth straight win. Durants scoring streak and leading his team without teammate Russell Westbrook has him at the top of many peoples list for MVP so far this year in the NBA.
