The Mississippi Mass Choir Scores their First Career #1

The Mississippi Mass Choir scores their first #1 song since they were formed in 1988. Their radio single, "The Promise," featuring Stan Jones & Myron Butler, leads Billboard's Gospel Airplay Chart this week. The song rises from 5 to 1 this week on its 31st week on the chart.
"The Promise" has more of a modern sound than we're used to from a group best known for combining the intensity of quartet singing with the full-throated sound of a church-wrecking community choir.
The song, about the anticipation of watching God move in one's life, is driven by animated vocals by Stan Jones and Myron Butler, and the relentless tempo fueled by an insistent rhythm section. While not as heart-stopping as MMC hits like "Your Grace and Mercy" and "When I Rose This Morning," its continuous spirited motion will captivate its share of enthusiasts.
