HTC Sense 7 Still Unfinished and Under Development; But HTC Already Working on the Sense 7 UI with Material Design Based on the Lollipop Developer Preview
HTC Sense 7, or however the next upgrade to the HTC Sense UI software suite will be finally numbered when it comes out, is still in development. It may even be that HTC will opt for just a refresh to the current 6.0 build rather than go for a new major new release of Sense. Either way, tech news sites have been reporting about some purported leaked screenshots showing how HTC Sense 7 with Android 5.0 Lollipop Material Design influence will look. Allegedly, they been captured on an HTC One M8 running the new Sense UI software alongside its upgrade to Lollipop.
The source of those screenshots, YouMobile, however, in an update clarified that "Sense 7 UI is still unfinished and under development." He also adds that one of the screenshots - the picture of Battery History, "is from an App that is not related to HTC (Widget Reborn beta), Our source Apologizes for it and clarifies that he was demonstrating how Sense 7 UI can adjust with any Material-optimized App. Sense 7 UI will color the software keys and upper notification bar with the App's default accent color which is in this case (Dark green). This is Not HTC Sense 7 UI Battery History." Presently, HTC is working on developing the Sense 7 UI with Material Design on the latest Lollipop Developer Preview as a preparation for the final version release.
HTC has already announced that it's working with Android 5.0 and the first devices to get the Lollipop update will be the HTC One M8 and HTC One M7. According to a previous YouMobile leak, the "timeframe for GPE is late November - December, for Original Sense based devices January - February." He also said that "HTC Desire Eye, HTC One (M8) Dual SIM, HTC One (M7) Dual SIM, HTC One (E8), HTC One (E8) Dual SIM, HTC Butterfly 2 should receive updates in January - March," that "HTC One Mini 2, Desire 816 more likely to get updates in March - April," and that "HTC One Max, HTC One Mini, HTC Butterfly S, [by] March - May."
