New 'Power Rangers 2016' : Get Ready 1990's Kids! Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Will Premiere on July 2016 - MMA Fighter Jason David Frank Confirm Cameo Role
Calling the attention of the 20th century kids! The colorful Japanese-based superheroes are set to return on the big screen.
Christian Post reported Lions Gate, a major firm producer outfit, has already confirmed the reboot of the Mighty Morphine Power Rangers. The throwback movie's release date is set on July 22, 2016.
"Just when one thought that July of 2016 cannot get any better with the release of films such as 'Angry Birds,' 'Independence Day 2' and the sequel to 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,' ... Lionsgate has greenlit a reboot of 'Power Rangers.'"
With a jam-packed year of reboots and equally interesting movie prequels, "Power Rangers 2016" will stay on its original premise and plot as its potential market are the 1990's kids who are now in adult age.
To be able to capture the original style of the 90's famous superhero series, Kpopstarz reported that Power Rangers' original creator has teamed up with its new movie producers.
Lions Gate, producer of high-grossing YA novel-based movies like "The Hunger Games" and "Twilight Saga," is also rumored to allot a hefty budget for the said film reboot. This is certainly good news for "Power Rangers" 2016's executive producer, Roberto Orci, who wants to avoid making "poor adaptation" for the well-known sci-fi series.
In terms of "Power Rangers" 2016's roster of actors, Liam Hemsworth, of "The Hunger Games," and Taylor Lautner, of "The Twilight Saga," are rumored to be the top choices for a lead ranger role. Both actors have no experience on being a superhero but their built and looks qualify them for the lead spot.
Chloe Moretz, who recently starred in "Carrie" movie, is also rumored to play the role of the Pink Ranger. But in an interview, Moretz turned the rumors down. She said "The funny thing about all these reports is I literally haven't even gotten one call about it."
Final list of lead actors for "Mighty Morphine Power Ranger 2016" has not been finalized yet but AnimeNewsNetwork reports somehow confirmed a comeback of the television series' original Green Ranger, Jason David Frank.
Frank, an actor and MMA fighter, "said he was not sure what capacity he'd appear in the film, 'but for sure cameos at least'."
As final touches are being made before the production of "Power Ranger 2016" starts, Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are reportedly writing the reboot film's script.
