‘Annabelle’ Movie Review: The Doll compared to its predecessor, how was it?

'Annabelle' Movie Review: The Doll compared to its predecessor, how was it?
If you have watched the 2013 hit horror film The Conjuring and read some reviews about it, then you have to move on, for we will give the latest review about the most popular doll this year, Annabelle. Want to know what's really scary about Annabelle? They said its staggering lack of imagination. This prequel to last year's impressive hit The Conjuring has clearly have been cobbled together quickly to capitalise on its predecessor's success and make a quick buck. It consists of a dismal procession of lazy shock tactics that pummel you into derision.
The uninvolving storyline plants sinister-looking doll Annabelle, as seen in The Conjuring, into the lives of a young couple after she's given as a present by dullard husband John (Ward Horton) to his pregnant wife and doll enthusiast Mia (Annabelle Wallis). Before long, she's being terrorised by a satanic cult and demonic forces, with the doll being an ever-present figure despite being discarded - and then bizarrely embraced again by Mia in a baffling move.
There's very little substance to this horror movie, which feels more like three hours than 98 minutes as it limps along at an agonising pace. While The Conjuring induced terror through its resourceful treatment of familiar subject matter and made good use of its 1960s environment, Annabelle crumbles by resorting to horribly generic and predictable scare methods and largely ignoring its period setting.
Here are some of the reviews in Rotten Tomatoes.com; "What we mostly get in Annabelle is what we've gotten from so many other horror films: creaking floors, funky white-robed figures, home appliances that go off on their own, mysterious writing that shows up in mysterious places." by New York Magazine and "If you're sighing heavily at the thought of yet another stupid horror movie involving an evil doll, here's a pleasant surprise: Annabelle is actually rather decent at raising the goose bumps." From Toronto Star.
Annabelle was already released last September 2014. Included in the casts are Annabelle Walis, Ward Horton, Tony Amendola, Alfre Woodard, Kerry O'Malley and more. It was written by Gary Dauberman and directed by John Leonetti. Now you know what they say about the doll, now you have to see it yourself.
