'Nightcrawler' Movie Release Date 2014 Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Watch New Promo Trailer Here (VIDEO)
The new Dan Gilroy-directed movie Nightcrawler premiered at the 2014 New York Film Festival on Sunday (Oct 5) in New York City. The film has released a new trailer with star Jake Gyllenhaal is looking frantic and out of control. He transformed his body for the role and is looking very skinny. It is reported that he dropped over 20 pounds for the role.
The 32-year-old actor plays a young man who stumbles upon the underground world of L.A. freelance crime journalism. As he gets deeper and deeper into his new career, he goes to greater lengths to and explores darker parths. Along with Gyllenhaal, the film stars Bill Paxton, Rene Russo and Riz Ahmed. This is Gilroy's film debut as a director.
Nightcrawler is scheduled to release from Open Road Films to theaters on Halloween, October 31st.
Jake got so into his role that he injured himself during one scene. "Jake was indeed filming "Nightcrawler" when during the shooting of an intense scene, his character (purposefully) banged his hand into the mirror," revealed his rep. "Unfortunately, the mirror broke and Jake's hand was badly cut up. He got numerous stitches at the ER and was released."
Nightcrawler started filming on October 6, 2013 in Los Angeles. It also was screened at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival in September.
When E! asked Gyllenhaal if his mother was worried about his weight loss for the movie, he shared, "You're the first person to ask that question and I'd say my mother was worried," Gyllenhaal said. "I would say she just wanted me to be careful. But she also knew and knows how seriously I take what I do and she respects that.
"She knows that I'm a big boy and I could handle myself and that I would stay within the realm of being safe, but yes, she worried," he continued. "She'd be like, 'You're cranky-eat something.'"
