"Real Housewives of New Jersey" Cast News: "Real Housewives" Star Teresa Guidice Sentenced to 15 months in Prison for Conspiracy
Teresa Giudice star of "Real Housewives of New Jersey," is heading to prison. She was sentenced to 15 months in prison last Thursday in a federal court in Newark. She cried as she apologized to the judge. She was charged with conspiracy and bankruptcy charges. Her husband, Giuseppe "Joe" Giudice was also found guilty and was sentenced 41 months in prison. The couple was also ordered to pay $414,000 each in restitution payment. The judge decided that Teresa Guidice will serve her sentence first so that Joe can stay home with their four children.
The couple pleaded guilty last March and they admitted to submitting a "phony loan applications to get some $5 million in mortgages and construction loans."
In addition to admitting a "phony loan application," Joe Giudice pleaded guilty for failing to file a 2004 tax return.
Judge Salas told Teresa during the sentencing, "I will say on the outset, I'm going to focus on what I didn't say to your husband that all of the false declarations, wire fraud, and bank fraud is still your fault. For a moment, I thought about probation until I read the government's report. What you did in the financial disclosure really sticks in my craw. It's what the court has a problem with. It shows blatant disrespect for the court," she explained.
The judge added, "I've seen a lot but I've never seen the confusion and work that went into these financial documents. I need a full picture of who you are, I need a full disclosure of your financial assets. It's not because I want to be nosy. Because of that, I don't think you respect the laws of this country. You are not as bad as your husband, you do not have the criminal record that he has had, but you are complicit in it."
Back on 2014, Teresa was instructed to fill out financial disclosure but failed to list several high-end personal items such as 2006 Ford F-250 truck, a cement mixer, a 1993 Ford Ranger, and a 1997 Chevy Corvette. She also failed to mention Fabellini lines and Milania Hair Care.
