HBO Miniseries Olive Kitteridge debut this Winter 2014
Olive Kitteridge is a 4-part HBO mini-series drama, which revolves on a middle-school math teacher, Olive, and her 25-year relationship with Henry.
Generally, the mini presents a calm New England town oppressed with unlawful issues, crime, and tragedy. The events are artistically chronicled through the eyes of Olive, who suffers from depression. Tough in the outside, Olive possesses a strong moral center.
Oscar nominated director Lisa Cholodenko piloted the TV mini-series. Written by playwright Jane Anderson, Olive Kitteridge mini-series is adapted from Elizabeth Strout's Pulitzer Prize-winning fictional masterpiece.
The miniseries is a fused production of Playtone and As Is, with Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman as the executive producers.
Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout stars Oscar winner Frances McDormand as Olive, Oscar nominee Richard Jenkins as her husband Henry, John Gallagher Jr. as their son Christopher, Zoe Kazan as Denise Thibodeau, and Bill Murray as Jack Kennison. McDormand is also known for her roles in the Coen Brother's 1996 film Fargo and North Country, while Jenkins has starred in The Visitor and HBO's Six Feet Under.
McDormand explained that she came to bring the project to HBO, since her friend gave her the novel six years ago. Despite arguing that the story was too lengthy and complicated, she optioned the book and took it to HBO. Lead actress McDormand thinks that the form is great for women. Female actors, writers, and filmmakers, also agree that longform storytelling such as Olive Kitteridge is great.
After it had its world premiere this week at the Venice Film festival, the movie will be aired on HBO this winter, particularly on November 2-3, 2014. HBO has quashed up the four parts into two the premiere dates. The first two parts debut on November 2, 2014, Sunday at 9:00PM, and then followed by the last two parts on November 3, 2014,Monday at 9:00PM.
