Big Hero 6 Movie News: Disney's Marvel comic book adaptation premieres in Tokyo on October 23; will be released worldwide on November 7
Big Hero 6 movie updates: Disney's latest animated film, Big Hero 6, will open the 27th Tokyo International Film Festival on October 23. The event will also be the movie's world premiere; Big Hero 6 release date worldwide is set on November 7.
"We are thrilled to premiere Big Hero 6 at the Tokyo International Film Festival. It is truly an honor to be selected as the opening film," said directors Don Hall and Chris Williams.
"The setting of our film, San Fransokyo, is a fictional, futuristic mash-up of two of our favorite cities in the world - San Francisco and Tokyo - and the research we did in Tokyo informed every detail of the film."
Inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, Big Hero 6 movie plot focuses on Hiro Yamada, a young robotics genius and his robot, Baymax, as they uncover a criminal plot. A zany mix of crime fighters, which include Wasabi, Honey Lemon, GoGo Tomago, and Fred, help the duo solve the mystery.
Big Hero 6 movie is voiced by Ryan Potter (Hiro Hamada), Scott Adsit (Baymax), Jamie Chung (Gogo Tamago), Damon Wayans (Wasabi), Genesis Rodriguez (Honey Lemon), T.J. Miller (Fred), Maya Rudolph (Aunt Cass), James Cromwell (Professor Robert Callaghan), Alan Tudyk (Alistair Krei), and Daniel Henney (Tadashi Hamada).
Big Hero 6 will be the first Disney animated production to feature Marvel characters since Walt Disney acquired Marvel Entertainment in 2009.
