'Godzilla 2': The Beast will Return on the Big Screen Release Date, Teasers and Spoilers Announced
Godzilla 2 is a new and upcoming science fiction action sequel film to be directed by Gareth Edwards, who is returning as director after the launch of the reboot Godzilla last May 15, 2014.
It is currently in production by Legendary Pictures in collaboration with the film's distributor Warner Bros. Pictures.
The Godzilla film franchise was originally based on a Japanese movie series directed by Ishiro Honda, first released in 1954 by Toho Company LTD, which is a film production and Distribution Company headquartered in Japan.
After Sony Pictures acquired film rights from Toho Company LTD, they produced and released an American version of the film in May 1998, followed by an animated series.
Legendary Pictures later acquired the rights after the expiration of the license held by Sony Pictures, and began the production of the reboot.
The reboot film was said to be a huge commercial success upon its debut, encouraging the production company to produce a sequel, which was already announced last August of this year, to be released on June 8, 2018!
Godzilla is said to be recognized as a cultural symbol in Japan, an allegory for nuclear weapons. In the original film produced in Japan, Godzilla was portrayed as a very terrifying monster, which to them was a reminder of the tragic event that happened in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
In the upcoming follow up movie, three new characters may be added including, Mothra, Rodan, and Ghidorah! Who are said to be the enemies of Godzilla.
