According to palace sources, the real-life fairy tale princess will be the guest of honor at next month's Malta's Golden Anniversary. The royal envoy will attend the two-day official event to mark the Mediterranean Island's 50^th year of independence from Britain.

An official statement given by the Kensington Palace said, "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge will visit Malta on 20^th and 21^st September, 2014 to represent Her Majesty The Queen on the occasion of the 50^th anniversary of Malta's independence." The duchess will remain in residency at the San Anton Palace throughout the weekend following her official business, among which is meeting Malta's head of state, a visit with the prime minister and also attending the Independence Day celebration itself.
