HTC One M8 News, Updates, and Specs: HTC's Flasghip Smartphone Now Available for Windows
HTC has debuted their One M8 model carrying the new Windows 8.1 operating system.
The HTC One M8 is considered to be of HTC's flagship smartphones and has had rave reviews from consumers and critics alike since its launch earlier this year. The One M8 used to only carry the operating system Android 4.4.2 (upgradeable to 4.4.3) but now has embraced the Windows mobile operating system as well.
In terms of looks and specs, the new Windows phone is completely similar to the previous Anroid M8 model. The display is a 5-inch LCD3 touchscreen with 1080x1920 resolution and 441 ppi pixel density. Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset with a quad core 2.3 GHz processor. The camera is 4 megapixels autofocus camera with a dual tone LED flash, though Windows Phone camera isn't designed to handle HTC's Duo camera customizations, the company added its own app. The Zoe functionality and dual-capture mode is missing but other than that the user interface is nearly identical to its Android twin. Video recording size is available in 1080p at 60fps and 720p at 120fps. Front-facing camera is 5 megapixels and can record at 1080p at 30fps.
The device comes with 32Gb of internal storage with expandable microSD slot up to 128Gb. The battery is the same as well with a 2,600 capacity, but due to the Windows operating system, battery life is expected to be longer than the Android counterpart, for Windows has a good reputation for battery efficiency.
The HTC One M8 Windows 8.1 is available NOW in Gunmetal Grey exclusively from Verizon for $99 with a two-year contract.
