Alien Isolation Trailer, News, and Release Date: Original Cast of Alien Return in New Horror Video Game
Alien: Isolation is an upcoming first-person survival horror game based off of the Alien movie franchise developed by The Creative Assembly and published by Sega.
For horror fans, it is quite familiar that the Alien film franchise has left a huge impression, and sad to say there won't be a film about it anytime soon. But now, we will be getting a new video game that promises to bring back fear and terror to us in the form of Alien: Isolation.
In the past, there have been numerous video game adaptations of the Alien franchise. The last one that was released was Aliens: Colonial Marines, and was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 back in February 2013. Colonial Marines is a first-person shooter action game developed by Gearbox Software and was executed as an action-packed game. This didn't go out too well, and was criticized for being repetitive, redundant, and boring, which spawned a panned feedback from gamers and critics.
Alien: Isolation however is going in a different path. The developers at The Creative Assembly thought it be best to keep it simple, clean, and scary, which would best fit in the category of survival horror much like in the style of Amnesia or more recently Outlast. The players of the game will have to rely on their wits to escape the Alien by stealth, running away, distracting or creating weaponries to defend oneself. Even if there are makeshift weapons to be made, it will be scarce and will most likely be used in case of dire need. This will force the players to rely on their 'fight or flight' instincts.
A new CGI trailer was released at Gamescom, and It was also revealed this past week that a DLC will be available wherein players will be able to use the original characters from the Alien movie and explore the Nostromo. The original cast includes Sagourney Weaver, Harry Dean Stanton, Tom Skerritt, Veronica Cartwright, and Yaphet Koto reprising their roles from the 1979 film.
Alien: Isolation will be released on October 7, 2014 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
