Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Sequel is Up, New #1 at the Box Office
The famous Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is now hitting it big at the box office, furthermore by unseating Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. It started as a comic book series back in 1984 with the original concept arising from an amusing sketch by Kevin Eastman during a night of brainstorming session with friend Peter Laird is now a certified box office hit.
The movie that stars Megan Fox, Will Arnett, William Fitchtner, Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, Pete Ploszek, Johnny Knoxville, Jeremy Howard has already surpassed $65 million in the US and Canada box office chart, and another $28.7 million record from the international market thus rounding its global debut at $93.7 million according to Paramount.
The movie revolves around a reporter played by Megan Fox who discover and later befriends the four anthropomorphic turtles who are living at the storm sewers of New York City, as they battle all kinds of enemies; from petty lawbreakers, to other mutant animals like them, aliens and evil sorts. But the catch for the the unlikely superheroes is that they don't want to get noticed and want to remain isolated from the human world while doing good.
With the impressive opening of this reboot, Paramount and Nickelodeon announce that a sequel is already being planned, due for release on June 3, 2016. Michael Bay, Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec will all come back to produce and write for the sequel. Jonathan Liebesman is not yet confirmed if he will be back to direct.
