Michael Tait Faces Additional Allegations from 6 More Men, Including Two Minors

Michael Tait, renowned Christian music artist and former frontman of DC Talk and Newsboys, has been accused by six additional men of sexual harassment, abuse, and drugging-bringing the total number of public accusers to nine. Two of the new allegations involve minors at the time of the alleged incidents.
According to a recent investigation published by The Guardian, the alleged abuse occurred between 2001 and 2009 and includes serious claims of grooming, unwanted sexual advances, and drug-facilitated misconduct. These reports follow earlier revelations shared by The Roys Report in which three men alleged sexual assault by Tait between 2004 and 2014.
In a public statement released on Instagram on June 10, 2025, Tait admitted that many of the allegations are "sadly, largely true." He confessed to battling a long-term addiction to cocaine and alcohol and acknowledged making unwanted sexual advances toward men, expressing deep remorse for the pain caused. Tait also confirmed that he stepped down from Newsboys in January to seek professional help and undergo rehabilitation.
"I have lived a double life for many years, and the consequences of that life have finally come to light," Tait said. "I am grieved over my actions and the trauma I have caused. To those I have hurt, I offer my sincerest apologies."
Newsboys released an official statement expressing heartbreak over the revelations and affirming their support for the victims:
"We are devastated by these reports and stand with those who have come forward. We pray for their healing and urge anyone else affected to speak out."
In response, several Christian media platforms-including K-LOVE and Air1-have suspended airplay of music by Tait, Newsboys, and DC Talk pending further developments.
The allegations have ignited widespread concern throughout the Christian music industry. Paramore's Hayley Williams issued a scathing critique of the industry's handling of such cases, stating, "To all who enabled this and stayed silent, shame on you."
As of this release, no criminal charges have been filed, but investigations are ongoing. Advocates and fans alike are calling for greater transparency and accountability within faith-based music circles.
