Jimmy Fortune Celebrates the Power of Family with “Thank God for Mamma and Daddy”

Songs Of An American Dreamer, the forthcoming live-in-the-studio album and DVD from Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Jimmy Fortune, continues to unfold with the release of its second single, "Thank God for Mamma and Daddy." The track is available everywhere today via Gaither Music.
Written and performed by Fortune, "Thank God for Mamma and Daddy" is a moving tribute to the foundational role of parents in shaping a child's life. With his unmistakable tenor and storytelling charm, Fortune paints a picture of the faith, simplicity, and enduring love that shaped his upbringing.
"Thank God for Mamma and Daddy' was inspired by my mother and father. Growing up in the hills of Virginia, it was a great childhood. With all the memories of growing up in a simple place, in a simple town, with a mother and father who spent a lot of time praying for their children. We had such good times and it's a celebration of both of them," said Fortune. The song is featured on Songs Of An American Dreamer, a 14-song collection of career-spanning favorites and newly written material - available everywhere on June 27, 2025. Recorded live in the studio, the project showcases Fortune's legendary voice in an intimate setting filled with warmth, reflection, and joy. The companion DVD, hosted by Ricky Skaggs and Sharon White, includes stories and conversations that bring each track to life.
The album revisits Fortune's beloved work with the Statler Brothers-including classics like "Elizabeth," "My Only Love," and "More Than a Name on a Wall"-while shining a light on highlights from his solo career and new songs that carry forward his message of faith and gratitude.
Fortune, who spent over two decades as a member of the iconic Statler Brothers, is also set to release his memoir Jimmy Fortune: The Story of an American Dreamer later this year.
