Vineyard Worship's Carl Tuttle Dies

Carl Tuttle, a pioneering worship leader and influential figure in the Vineyard movement, passed away on May 22, 2025, at the age of 71.
Born on December 26, 1953, in Natick, Massachusetts, Tuttle became a central figure in contemporary Christian worship music. He is best known for composing enduring songs such as "Hosanna, Hosanna, Hosanna to the King of Kings" and "Open Your Eyes, See the Glory of the King," which have been widely included in modern hymnals and worship collections.
Tuttle's journey in ministry began in the mid-1970s when he became involved with a Christian group in Yorba Linda, California, that included John Wimber. This group eventually evolved into the Vineyard Christian Fellowship. Tuttle served as a worship leader and later as the senior pastor of the Anaheim Vineyard, succeeding Wimber in 1994. He stepped down from this role in 1997 amid personal challenges, which he candidly discussed in his autobiography, "Reckless Mercy: A Trophy of God's Grace" (2017).
In his later years, Tuttle faced significant health issues, including a stroke that left him unable to walk and with speech difficulties. A fundraiser was established in 2020 to assist with his medical expenses.
Carl Tuttle's legacy lives on through his contributions to worship music and his role in shaping the Vineyard movement. His songs continue to inspire and uplift congregations worldwide.
