Greg LaFollette Returns with "Liturgical Songs Volume One"

Greg LaFollette has announced his sixth studio album, entitled Liturgical Songs Volume One. LaFollette self-produced its tracks at The Culture House, where he is the artist-in-residence. It will be released on January 3rd, 2025.
The making of Liturgical Songs Volume One was accompanied by big changes in LaFollette's personal life: the joys of a new family and the sudden death of both of his parents in 2024. He says, "Worship songs, sung together, that include a full spectrum of our reality can heal us." The arresting "He Does" mirrors a conversation with someone in the tumult of grief, with the Church offering the comfort that the burden does not need to be carried alone.
In true form, this album is intended to equip the church with practical resources. Accompanied by revered contemporary Christian artist Fernando Ortega, his new recording of "The Lord's Prayer" is infinitely useful for corporate church settings.
While a deference to accessibility is apparent, LaFollette doesn't shy away from leaning into sophistication and beauty. Taking advantage of the large studio spaces where the performances were captured, 27 collaborators were invited into the recording process.
"Something different happens when we experience things in the same place at the same time. Even silence is extremely powerful when it is shared." The record is a full band production with folk-leaning textures. The acoustic, organic elements throughout are thoughtfully complemented with imaginative, modern production. The album includes an instrumental reprise of "Oh The Deep Deep Love of Jesus" that features a breathtaking cello ensemble.
Liturgical Songs Volume One follows LaFollette's "Psalm 136 (Your Mercy Endures)" which went to #1 on the iTunes New Zealand Christian & Gospel Chart as well as the groundbreaking 2018 album, Songs of Common Prayer. With over 8 million streams on Spotify alone, LaFollette hopes the album will please God and bring healing to many.
