"Walking Dead" Star Norman Reedus Leaves Daryl Behind in New 2015 Thriller "AIR"
You may recognize Norman Reedus as fan favorite Daryl from the hit show "The Walking Dead." Reedus is not exactly slaying zombies in his new movie "AIR." However, he is teamed up with "Walking Dead" produced Robert Kirkman to make the film, which tells the story of two workers who perform the upkeep on the bunkers that preserve civilization after the outside air becomes toxic to humans.
Reedus describes the film, in which he costars with Djimon Hounsou, as a "psychological thriller." Reedus plays Bauer in the film, one of the two workers that the film focuses on. Reedus had this to say about his role in the film: " ...through the character I play, his past is such a dark one, and the guilt of what he's done weighs so heavy on him that he sort of substitutes his real family for this other person in his mind, and he sort of looks at him as a brother in this way that's a little too close for comfort. And what happens is he ends up forcing the action to take place against the other person's will."
The film, though not slatd as a horror movie, is described as on the fence by producer Robert Kirkman, who said, "There is definitely a horror element to it that kind comes into play and the environment certainly lends itself to that. If we were doing a comedy set in this place it would still seem a little scary."
"AIR" will be released in the spring of 2015.
