Ethan Hulse is the First Christian Songwriter to be Honored as NSAI Songwriter of the Year
The Nashville Songwriters Association International has recently honored the winners of the fourth annual Nashville Songwriter Awards, which was held as a virtual ceremony. Ethan Hulse is the first Christian songwriter to be honored as the NSAI's songwriter of the year. During the eligibility period, Hulse had hits with Andrew Ripp's "Jericho," Cain's "Rise Up (Lazarus)," Cory Asbury's "The Father's House," Josh Baldwin's "Evidence" and more.
"NSAI Songwriter of the Year!!!," Hulse announces. "First time in 54 years that it's gone to a Christian writer...what in the world?!?! Absolutely mind blowing. When Erin and I moved to Nashville 6 years ago, my goal was just to be able to write songs for a living...never could've imagined anything like this."
Hulse is filled with gratitude as he thanks his publishers and supporters. "Thank you to everyone at @nsaiofficial for this huge honor, my team at @essentialmusicpublishing, @jamrodgers and @hzabka for all the ways you champion me and help me dream bigger, all the co-writers/artists/producers I get the privilege to work with and also call friends.
Not forgetting his own family, Hulse continues, "To my beautiful wife @erin_hulse for, among many things, helping me get out of my heads down/work mode to stop and celebrate the amazing things happening around me, our son Porter for giving me a depth of love and joy I didn't know I had, and all the praise to God for the mystery and gift of songs. It still amazes me what a song can do."
Hulse is a three-time GRAMMY nominated and Dove Award winning songwriter from Orange County, CA. After moving to Nashville in 2015 to pursue songwriting full-time, Hulse signed a publishing deal with Essential Music Publishing. Since then, he has had four Billboard number-one singles and several other chart topping songs with artists such as: Zach Williams, Tauren Wells, Danny Gokey, Jeremy Camp, Cory Asbury, Josh Baldwin, Bethel Music and many more.
