Casting Crowns' Former Drummer Andy Williams' Funeral Announced
Casting Crowns' first drummer Andy Williams passed away on July 10th. He died after suffering multiple injuries from a motorcycle accident that occurred while on his way to church for a Sunday worship service. He was 49 years old. Andy's funeral has been scheduled to be held on August 7th at Grace Chapel Church (3279 Southall Rd, Franklin, TN 37064). The viewing will take place at 10 am, followed by the service at 12 noon.
Andy's wife offered a moving reflection of her husband's life. "For those who don't know me, I am Kelly Williams, Andy's wife. I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you to everyone who reached out to us and/or prayed for us and for Andy. As you all can imagine, we prayed and believed in our miracle working God non-stop. We had faith and simultaneously honored God's soverignty in and over the situation.
After all, we are limited in what we know and see, yet He knows absolutely everything - a fact which has always brought me great comfort and peace. For some, it makes them uneasy. For me, my Creator, being outside of time and seeing so much more than me takes a weight off. Nevertheless, having seen His miracles throughout my life, I prayed for my Andy to be completely healed and restored on this side of the veil. God's presence was palpable as two weeks passed with no improvement. And God's presence was still palpable around 1:30 in the morning of July 9th when Andy took Jesus' hand and made his way into his eternal home.
We miss him like crazy and keep wishing he will walk through that door at any moment. That may not happen, but what will happen is that we will keep breathing, keep living, keep praising our great God, and keep making our focus that of Andy's focus - reaching people for the glory of God and now...in honor of Andy. He was like no other man I've ever known or ever will know, in every sense of the word. He had an impact on this world larger than even we, his own family, knew, or even he himself knew.
We appreciate every prayer for healing prayed, and now we appreciate every prayer being lifted on our behalf as we walk in this new adventure we are on. It wasn't expected, wanted, planned, or liked, but here we are. We, by God's grace, will live well and make Andy smile everyday, the same way he made us and so many others smile everyday. We love each of you. We are lifting all of our students, current or not, and their families up to Jesus as He is the only One who binds up the brokenhearted.
Thank you all again for your support, encouragement, and prayers. God is hearing you."
Andy Williams drummed for Casting Crowns from 2001 to 2009, assisting the band for monster CCM hits like "Voice of Truth," "Praise You In This Storm" and "Who Am I?". Their self-titled debut went platinum and their follow-up Lifesong netted a Grammy. Andy's church has started a GoFundMe campaign in hopes of raising to help Andy's family in these times of grief.
