Spoilers for "Orange is the New Black" Season 3 Released and Casting News Announced
"Orange is the New Black" season two premiered barely a month ago on Netflix, and already fans are salivating for the next season. While we do not know an exact release date yet, we have been given a few juicy details about the upcoming third season of the hit Netflix original.
As far as casting goes, we know of one definite addition to the Litchfield lineup. Mary Steenburgen will be joining the cast as Mendez's (also known as Pornstache) mother, according to the man behind the 'stache, star Pablo Schreiber.
However, we may be missing a few of our favorites during the third season. Schreiber, in an interview with "Vulture," revealed that as a result of his character;s imprisonment during season two (and undoubtedly because of the actor's commitment to a new series), we will be seeing much less of Pornstache in season three of "Orange is the New Black." Here's what Schreiber had to say in the interview: "I'm a series regular now on a show called 'The Brink' on HBO. But his [Pornstache's] mother is making an appearance on season three. Mary Steenburgen has been cast as my mom. I'm not sure what she'll do that will advance the Pornstache plotline, but for now, Mendez is in prison, biding his time."
Larry, Piper's former fiance played by Jason Biggs, left season two in a cloud of confusion. Will his grand exit with Polly (Piper's best friend) be the last we see of Larry? Biggs told "Entertainment Weekly" about his uncertainty about the extent of his role in season three, a few weeks after filming had already begun.. "It's very unclear at this point, even for me.I have not shot anything yet."
Last but not least, everyone's favorite international drug smuggler Alex Vause (played by Laura Prepon) will be back on the scene in Litchfield during season three. We did not see much of her in the previous season, due to her temporary release from prison, but we know that she will be back for good come season three. Does Piper put her there? We will have to watch and see...
