Holly Holm vs Ronda Rousey Fight in Future Says President Dana White with Holm Signing UFC Contract
UFC has announced that they have signed a contract with former world No.1 ranked boxer Holly Holm. Holm as well posted on her website that she signed with the UFC. With her now signed on with Ultimate Fighting Championship, fans are hoping this will set up a a match with Ronda Rousey.
It looks like this will happen, with UFC President Dana White telling The Times in a text message Thursday that he plans to give Holm at least one non-title fight before matching her against Rousey.
Holm shared to UFC.com that she needs more MMA training, but wants to fight Rousey soon. "There's a lot to work on in MMA, and obviously I want to work on armbar defense, not just for Ronda, but for all the girls," said Holm. "(Rousey) is not the only one that has more of a ground game than me. A lot of people do, but obviously she's the best at it right now. But that doesn't mean the others aren't a threat as well."
Holm is currently recovering from a broken arm, so no official date has been set for her make her UFC debut. Holm announced her retirement from boxing in 2013 to focus on an MMA career. She has a 33-2-3 record as a boxer and is 7-0 as an MMA fighter. The 5-foot-8 Holm, 32, has six knockouts and one victory by decision.
Ronda Rousey is 10-0 and has won nine of her fights in the first round. She defeated Alexis Davis by technical knockout Saturday in just 16 seconds. In February, Rousey beat contender Sara McMann in 66 seconds.
