Larry Gatlin Returns to Host “Opry Country Classics” at Historic Ryman Auditorium
Newly-inducted Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member Larry Gatlin returns to Music City's historic Ryman Auditorium this week to host another season of the Grand Ole Opry's "Opry Country Classics."
"Whoopee! It's time for OCC!" exclaims Larry. "I have been a grateful member of the Grand Ole Opry for almost 45 years, and I'm honored to be the host of 'Opry Country Classics' at the 'Mother Church,' the Ryman Auditorium. Y'all come see us now, ya hear!"
Live from the Ryman on Thursday nights during the spring and fall seasons, "Opry Country Classics" features performances of the country music the world knows best. Hit songs are performed by legends of the genre as well as by the rising stars the legends have influenced.
Larry's brothers Steve and Rudy (collectively known as Larry, Steve & Rudy: The Gatlin Brothers) will join him weekly to perform their own classic country hits including "All the Gold in California," "Houston (Means I'm One Day Closer to You)," "Broken Lady," and more.
The country legend takes the reins as show host this Thursday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m. / CT. This week's lineup features Larry, Steve & Rudy: The Gatlin Brothers, The Oak Ridge Boys, Jimmy Fortune, Jeannie Seely and Amber Digby. "Opry Country Classics" can be heard at opry.com and wsmonline.com, Opry and WSM mobile apps, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, and its flagship home, 650 AM WSM. Larry, Steve & Rudy: The Gatlin Brothers celebrated a major career milestone this past Sunday. On March 8, 1955, 65 years ago, the brothers' career officially started when they won their very first talent competition in the town of Abilene, Texas. At that time Larry was six, Steve was four, and Rudy was two. Now, more than six decades later, the brothers are still going strong, currently touring the nation on their "65th Anniversary Tour."
