New Trailer Released for "Gone Girl" Movie Based on Novel by Gillian Flynn, Starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike
2014 has undoubtedly been the year for books-turned movies making a killing at the box office. While the hallmarks of this trend in 2014 have been YA novels for the most part ("The Fault in Our Stars" and "If I Stay" being among the two most notable ones), Gillian Flynn's novel Gone Girl will be breaking that trend when it premieres in theaters on October 3rd.
Gone Girl is a thriller novel that topped the New York Time's Bestseller List not long after it was published in June 2012. The story centers around a missing person, Amy Dunne, whose husband Nick falls under suspicion when Amy mysteriously disappears on their fifth wedding anniversary. The novel was received extremely well by critics and audiences alike, who praised the novel's suspense, thrilling twists, and lack of a reliable narrator as elements that make the reader unable to put it down.
The screenplay was adapted by the novelist herself, Gillian Flynn, and the film was directed by David Fincher, who also directed famous novel-turned-film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The film stars Ben Affleck as Nick Dunne, the highly suspicious-looking husband who proclaims his innocence loud and clear. Missing person Amy Dunne is played by Rosamund Pike, who also appeared as a Bond girl in "Die Another Day" and as Jane Bennett in 2005's "Pride and Prejudice." The film will also feature appearances by Neil Patrick Harris in the (unlikely and seriously creepy) role of Amy's ex-boyfriend, and Tyler Perry as Nick Dunne's lawyer.
