Costi Hinn, Nephew of Benny Hinn, Slams the Prosperity Gospel in New Book

Costi Hinn, the executive pastor of Mission Bible Church in Southern California, is set to release God, Greed, and the (Prosperity) Gospel: How Truth Overwhelms a Life Built on Lies on July 19 through Zondervan.
Millions desperate for hope and solutions are enticed by the promise of the prosperity gospel - that God will do whatever they need with just a little faith and a financial gift. All the while, prosperity preachers exploit the poor and the needy to stockpile their riches. What can followers of the true gospel do to combat the deception?
Through a remarkable and fascinating journey, Costi Hinn went from a next-generation prosperity preacher to the first to abandon the family faith and share the true gospel. Nephew of the world-famous televangelist, Benny Hinn, Costi had a front-row seat to the inner workings and theology of the prosperity gospel. But as Costi's faith deepened, so did his questions about prosperity teaching. As the deceptions in his past were exposed, Costi came face to face with the hypocrisy and devastation caused by his belief system, and the overwhelming truth about the real Jesus Christ.
This captivating look into the daily lives of one of the world's leading prosperity dynasties offers a thoughtful perspective on the perils of greed, the power of the true gospel, and hope for the future of the global church. Through real-life stories, Costi challenges and equips readers to be living lights pointing the way to the true gospel and the saving grace of Christ. God, Greed, and the (Prosperity) Gospel will bolster your faith and encourage your own journey toward the Truth.
In an interview with CNN last year, Costi stated the luxurious way of life that he had was "living the dream," with flights on a G4 or G5 private gulfstream airliners, layovers in Monte Carlo, and stays in fancy hotel suites that cost $25,000 per night.
On his blog, reported by The Christian Post, he stated that the emphasis of the book is in encouraging Christians "to give more than we take."
He went on to say that, "While publishing a book costs money and there is compensatory work involved on both the writing and marketing side, there is a collective conviction that our mandate to honor Christ through this book must transcend any pressure to "sell books."
"I am eager to see this book used as a tool for God's glory - not for sordid gain. Here is a sobering thought: In a rat-race effort to sell books, it's easy to become the very dragon that we're attempting to slay.
Costi continued, "Imagine the irony of me writing a book on the prosperity gospel only to make a ton of money off of royalties so I can live like a king. That's not only shameful considering my background; that's hardly what God's purposes are in blessing a project like this.
"In an effort to operate with transparency and integrity, allow me to state the obvious: A book speaking against the prosperity gospel technically makes money "off of" the prosperity gospel. As such, it is the conviction of both my wife and me that 100% of the royalties I earn from this book be used for theological education and providing resources to pastors and people who have been exploited by the prosperity gospel."
