Jentezen Franklin Says the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act ‘Should Have Been the Most Obvious “Yes” Vote Ever

In response to the U.S. Senate failing to pass the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, Pastor Jentezen Franklin issues the following statement:
"If we can't all agree that a newborn child, regardless of the circumstances, should be cared for by medical professionals, I'm horrified with the direction of our culture. The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act should have been the most obvious "yes" vote ever presented before Congress. Yet for reasons that I can't possibly comprehend, 44 senators felt that infant children don't deserve a right to life in the immediate moments after they are born.
A helpless child lying there in a hospital room is not medical waste. It is not a complicated decision. It is a living, breathing human being. These children should be granted the same fundamental human rights that you and I have, and anyone who disagrees should have to answer to the American people for a worldview lacking in such basic compassion.
I'm grateful for the senators who did attempt to provide these children with this most essential protection. I am equally grateful for the President and his administration's recent efforts to defund Planned Parenthood. We must stand firm against a culture of death and a ruthless abortion lobby far out of step with the vast majority of Americans. Thankfully, eighty percent of Americans believe abortion should be limited to the first trimester - never mind allowing a child's life to be taken moments after birth. I pray our politicians reconsider their point of view and come to an understanding that every life is precious and beautiful."
Pastor Jentezen Franklin is the Senior Pastor of Free Chapel, a multi-campus church. Each week his television program "Kingdom Connection" is broadcast on major networks all over the world. A New York Times best-selling author, Jentezen has written eight books including his latest, Love Like You've Never Been Hurt.
