Dave Adkins Sings New Rick Lang Single "Thinkin' Outside the Box"

Billy Blue Records and songwriter, Rick Lang, have released the first single from Lang's latest bluegrass Gospel project, Gonna Sing, Gonna Shout. The album is brimming with an impressive list of guests artists, including Dave Adkins whose lead vocal rings out on "Thinkin' Outside The Box," available today. Tammy King and Jerry Salley serve up the background vocals on the tune, which was co-written by Jerry Salley with Rick Lang.
Gonna Sing, Gonna Shout (Billy Blue Records) was produced by Salley, Creative/A&R Director of Billy Blue Records. Lang has had more than 80 songs recorded in his own award-winning career. In addition to Adkins, King and Salley, the lineup of bluegrass, country, and Gospel stars lending their talents to deliver Lang's original songs on this latest project includes High Road, Marty Raybon, The Whites, Claire Lynch, Bradley Walker, Cox Family, Kenny and Amanda Smith, Larry Cordle, Larry Stephenson, Brandon Rickman, Josh Swift, and Maggie Salley.
"Thinkin' Outside The Box" was the first of four songs I wrote with Jerry Salley for this new Gospel project," Lang says. "We thought Dave Adkins would be a great choice to sing lead, and he totally crushed it in the studio. Tammy Rogers King adds a killer harmony vocal part, and Jason Roller did some stunning fiddle work. I get chills up my spine every time I listen to this amazing track."
Rick Lang is a graduate of the IBMA Leadership Bluegrass Class of 2012, currently chairs the IBMA Songwriter Committee and is active in the IBMA Songwriter Mentor Program.
"Thinkin' Outside The Box" is available today on AIRPLAY DIRECT.
Gonna Sing, Gonna Shout is slated for release on November 16, 2018.
