Iconic pop singer, Justin Timberlake, sat down for an exclusive interview with Oprah for her OWN network series, "Master Class" where she interviews people at the top of the entertainment industry to share their experience and stories. The episode premiered on Sunday night, May 11th, watch full episode above.
Justin shares about feeling like he didn't fit in growing up and remembers his parents tellhing him to put 115 percent toward anything worth doing. He also shares about making the tough decision to split from his group, NSYNC, and go solo. "I would wake up every morning feeling this more and more of an urge to step out onto my own and try my own hand as a musician," explains Justin. "It's one of the best-slash-worst things that I have ever done because it was bittersweet, it was hard to kind of say goodbye to that era, but I felt it changing. I felt music changing. And I felt myself changing."
In 2002, Justin Timberlake released his first solo album Justified and it was clear his solo venture would be a success. He also shares about fighting for one of his most popular hits, "SexyBack" and trying to convince his label it would work as a comeback single. Watch as he explains why some people thought it was a joke and reflects on the great lengths he went to for airplay.
Justin Timberlake has won Grammys for his music and an Emmy for his acting. Still, he says, to truly master any skill, he prefers to approach every project like he's a novice. Find out why he says he learns more living life as a beginner.
