Lindsey Stirling Scores Her First Christian #1 Hit

This week, violinist and dancer Lindsey Stirling scores her first ever #1 Christian hit. Her rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" inches its way to Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart from #3 to #1 dethroning Jordan Smith's "Mary, Did You Know."
The song's success has been partially due to its video which has gone viral. In the video, Lindsey dresses up and plays in a subway station, where she is largely unrecognized, while the rest of the video shows great opportunities she has had to serve while on tour. At the end of the video, she said making the video reminded her of a time when no one saw the beauty in here and how she came to learn Christ always saw it. It reminds us all of the true spirit of Christmas. Watch the full video below.
According to Billboard, the video posted Dec. 7, quickly went viral, spurring the song's 3-1 rise on Hot Christian Songs (dated Jan. 9) and its No. 21 bow on the Holiday 100 and No. 81 entrance on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100; the song is Stirling's first hit on each chart.
Propelled by 3.3 million U.S. streams (up 234 percent), according to Nielsen Music, in the tracking week ending Dec. 24, "Hallelujah" bounds in at the summit of Christian Streaming Songs. It also flies 15-3 on Christian Digital Songs (8,000 downloads sold, up 174 percent).
On a more personal note, Stirling's dad Stephen J. Stirling, who is an author, has cancer. He has just started cancer treatments, please remember him in your prayers.
