By now you all know about Michael Schumacher and the recent developments of his condition that led to him recovering at his residence in a semi comatose state so to speak. Apparently one of the doctors that treated him for the six months after his brain injury claims the legend has made some progress. Jean-Francois Payen, one of the doctors at a French hospital in Grenoble where Schumacher was treated warned that any recovery at the present would take quite a bit of time. "It is like for other patients. We are in a time scale of one to three years, so you need patience." Jean claimed.

Schumacher spent about 6 months in a coma after the skiing crash at the end of last year when he smashed his head on a rock after a freak accident in the French Alpine resort of Meribel. There was even some speculation that his head gear did not help things much. He had on a GoPro helmet camera which is used for sports shooting at the time and the implication was it worsened his injuries during the incident. Of course, the reporter behind the claims, Jean Moncet has since retracted them before the company viciously began litigation procedures for defamation.

The 45 year old recently moved back home to his house in Lausanne and Payen added that he is still involved in the care of the former F1 champion. According to the doctor, "It is to see how he progresses and then tell his wife and his children what changes I have observed." His statements were mirrored by other doctors, as neurosurgeon Tony Belli told BBC that rehabilitation from this kind of injury usually took months to years depending on the severity of the injury and how young and fit they were. The investigators that were probing last December's accident mentioned Schumacher had been going at the speed of quite an experienced skier at the time of the accident.
