HTC Desire EYE Specs, Release Date: May Hit Stores During The Holiday Season
HTC Desire EYE "could be launched 'in the coming weeks' in Taiwan, following its certification by local authorities", according to Phone Arena, saying also, that "in the US, AT&T will be the exclusive carrier of the Desire EYE planning to offer it 'this holiday season.' While AT&T didn't reveal pricing details, we know that the new smartphone will cost about as much as the HTC One (M8) in Europe." Tech Radar is projecting a mid-November release date for the new HTC smartphone Talk Android is expecting the Desire EYE to be priced at about $350 while the One (M8) at about $440. According to HTC, the release of Desire EYE "marks company's foray into 'selfie-centric' smartphones."
The Desire EYE has a 13 MP unit with 28mm wide-angle lens, f/2.2 aperture, and dual LED flash, front-facing camera, possibly the largest on a smartphone. On the back, it also has a 13 MP camera with dual LED flash, but with an f/2.0 aperture. Both front and back cameras offer 1080p HD video recording through their wide-angle lenses. The handset has a dedicated shutter button on the right hand side. The HTC Desire Eye also comes with a Zoe app which allows users to create, share and remix professional quality highlight photos and videos quite easily.
Aside from the cameras, the two-color unibody Desire EYE sports a 5.2-inch 1080p display with a pixel density of 423ppi. Under the hood, it has a quad-core 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, backed by 2GB of RAM and with 16GB of on-board storage. It has a microSD card slot and it runs on a 2,400mAh Li-Polymer battery. The Desire EYE is powered by an Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box with HTC's Sense 6 atop. Also, Desire EYE has an IPX7 limited waterproof rating.
