Gone Girl Indie Movie News, Reveals, Rumors and Reviews: Ben Affleck, Tyler Perry and Neil Patrick Harris Graced Cast List
A lot of movies use film festivals as springboards. Gone Girl is one such film and is technically not a feature film although it has the backing of big companies like Regency Enterprise and Pacific Standard that pumped an impressive 61 million dollars into the project. The movie was first aired at the New York Film Festival on September 26th 2014 and is based on a book by the same name by Gillian Flynn who also wrote the screenplay. David Fincher award winning director of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and the Social Network is the head of the project which has Reese Witherspoon among the Producers.
Nick Dune returns home on the day of his fifth anniversary and finds his wife gone. From the evidence present at the scene and his behavior Nick becomes the immediate suspect. It turns out that the two have had marital problems that began when they both lost their jobs to the recession and Nick's mother was diagnosed with cancer forcing the couple to relocate from New York to Missouri. It turns out that Amy (Nick's wife) has staged the disappearance/murder to frame her husband, from purchasing a gun, days before her disappearance to a poorly concealed scuffle scene. Further, she gets her lover, Desi to put her up in his luxury cabin. Nick hires a lawyer to argue his case and improve his public image and leads him to make a heartfelt public announcement that lads Amy to kill her lover and come back.
The themes of dishonesty and deceit are clear throughout the movie and how the media has the ability to affect the collective conscious of the public. The cast list is also quite impressive with Ben Affleck, Tyler Perry and Neil Patrick Harris among the list of cast members. It received a theatre release on October 3rd 2014 and has made 201 million dollars at the box office so far.
